A year ago, I was writing for the first time about my experience as part of the Beit Project—surrounded by people I look up to, and others I’m now grateful to call friends. Today, I find myself writing again from a new perspective—one that is more challenging, yet all the more exciting.
This time, I’ve stepped into a role I once admired from afar during my journey as a facilitator. Coordination, I’ve come to realise, is truly a kind of superpower. The more I dive into it, the more I understand the invisible threads that hold everything together—the care, the anticipation, the constant adaptation. Although we are still in the preparation phase and it isn’t always easy, I feel confident that we will once again do a great job. I deeply trust this team; through my tasks, I see how everyone is working toward the same goal, and that shared commitment motivates me every day.
We are also fortunate to be surrounded by wonderful local partners (the French Institute, Bayt Dakira, the Essaouira-Mogador Association, the Argania Association, and the TAMKEEN Foundation). Their welcoming spirit doesn’t just facilitate the project—it truly shapes its atmosphere, making every interaction more meaningful. Their support lays the foundation for what promises to be a beautiful outcome.
And then there is Essaouira—a city that has a way of pulling you in without warning. There’s something mesmerizing about it : the rhythm of its streets, the ocean air, the quiet poetry of everyday life, the smiling faces I pass by daily, the sunsets, and the sailors by the shore. It creates the perfect backdrop for reflection and connection, almost as if the city itself becomes part of the experience.
Taking on this role has allowed me to see the Beit Project from a wider lens, while still staying connected to its core : meaningful encounters, shared reflections, and human connection. It’s a different kind of responsibility, but one that feels deeply aligned with why I joined this project in the first place.
The urban sessions in Essaouira will begin on March 26 and end on April 14.
